The plancha chef

You are in charge of the main ingredient- mamma maiz. Your domain is the plancha, aka the gas griddle. You’ll spend the market hours cooking corn and other ingredients properly and timely, while communicating with your fellow eloter@s who are taking orders and preparing elotes.

​Work Schedule: every Sunday, from 9:45am to 2:15pm
Start date: asap, mid March/ early April
Pay: $15/hr + tip share
Responsibilities: 
  • Grill corn until perfectly cooked and crunchy - will also grill/ heat up other ingredients
  • Manage amount of corn to cook at a time depending on orders
  • Prepare cups and cobs of corn for the Assembler
  • Keep track of orders with minimal error
  • Keep plancha (gas griddle) clean
Requirements:
  • Must be comfortable working a gas griddle- does not need to have experience cooking corn before but must be a quick learner
  • Must be able to keep track of multiple orders by memory
  • Learn our menu by heart, as well as how to prepare each elote special
    • In charge of helping Assembler prepare elotes if we are back-ordered and time permits
  • Moves efficiently and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Can handle stressful situations with ease and positivity 
  • Good communicator- asks questions, asks for help, updates Assembler and FOH on ingredient availability, etc. 
  • Comfortable wearing mouth and nose covering mask throughout entire shift (masks are required)
  • Comfortable working outdoors (we work hot, cold or rainy- under a tent)
